Niantic announced the new content for March this morning! These events start the Season of Alola in-game and feature new raids, and will run until June 1st, 2022. Let’s break down the upcoming events as we kick off the season.
March Raids
This month brings a new debut for raid bosses, Tapu Koko! Tapu Koko is known as the guardian diety of the Alola region. Unfortunately, the shiny variation is not available during its release.
Tier Five Raids
- March 1 -15: Tapu Koko
- March 15 – 22: Therian Forme Tornadus
- March 22 – April 5: ???
Mega Raids
- March 1 – 15: Mega Venusaur
- March 15 – 22: Mega Lopunny
- March 22 – April 5: Mega Charizard Y
March Raid Hours
Raid hours are featured from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. every Wednesday. The following raid hours will be available during March:
- March 02: Tapu Koko
- March 09: Tapu Koko
- March 16: Therian Forme Tornadus
- March 23: ???
- March 30: ???
Spotlight Hours
Every Tuesday, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. local time, you can find certain Pokemon spawning more often in the wild. Each week comes with a unique boost in-game, also. The following are the spotlight hours for March:
- March 01: Cubone | 2x Candy for transferring Pokemon
- March 08: Exeggcute | 2x XP for evolving Pokemon
- March 15: Growlithe | 2x catch stardust for catching Pokemon
- March 22: Sudowoodo | 2x catch XP for catching Pokemon
- March 29: Paras | 2x catch candy for catching Pokemon
Breakthrough Encounters
During March, research breakthrough encounters will find Alolan Vulpix spawns. If you’re lucky, you might find a shiny!
