Tapu Lele makes T5 Debut!

Tapu Lele, guardian of Akala Island is known to scatter glowing scales, which affect others by stimulating and healing their bodies; however, these scales are also dangerous if too many are touched at once. An old legend says that Tapu Lele ended a war between Alola’s islands by healing the tired warriors with its scales, but rumors point to a more disturbing truth behind this story.

This mysterious Pokemon will be making its Pokemon GO debut this week! As posted on our events page, Tapu Lele will debut on March 22 and 10am local time, and is rumoured to be leaving (according to the Raid Boss calendar from PokemonGoLive) on April 5, at 10am local time.

Tapu Lele comes to Raids on March 22nd!

Because Tapu Lele is a Psychic and Fairy Pokemon, it is weak to Poison, Steel and Ghost type moves. Our raid guide focuses heavily on this!

Normal Pokemon

Starting with the most effective normal type Pokemon, we see a not-so-normal pattern of some harder to find Pokemon.

Metagross

Metagross using Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash (Elite TM) is your third best option for Tapu Lele

Origin Giratina

Recently being featured in raids, Origin Giratina should be one of the easier to use Pokemon for this raid, make sure to use Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball

Chandelure

Chandelure using Hex and Shadowball is the 7th best counter.

Hoopa (Unbound)

Found during recent special research, Hoopa should be an easy to access Pokemon using Astonish and Shadow Ball

Jirachi

Jirachi using electrical fast move Charge Beam, and steel charged move Doom Desire is the 10th best counter.

Dialga

Featured in raids in mid-2021, Dialga is a strong steel Pokemon for using to counter Tapu Lele. Utilize Metal Claw and Iron Head.

Mega Pokemon

Mega Gengar (Ghost), Mega Beedrill (Poison) and Mega Steelix (Steel) are the best mega counters for this raid boss.

Shadow Pokemon

This trio is more rare to find when battling grunts, however using the following will pay off most:

  • Metagross with Bullet Punch and Meteor Mash (Elite TM)
  • Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Shadow Ball (Elite TM)
  • Scizor with Bullet Punch and Iron Head

Budget

Budget counters are the easiest Pokemon to find, but often are the weakest out of the guide, utilize this as a last resort after the “Normal” section.

  • Excadrill with Metal Claw and Iron Head
  • Gengar with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball
  • Roserade with Poison Jab and Sludge Bomb
  • Trevnant with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball
  • Scizor with Bullet Punch and Iron Head
  • Mismagius with Hex and Shadow Ball

Raid this, and other bosses now on our Discord Server!
