Deoxys is a pure psychic mythical pokèmon introduced in generation 3. The DNA of a space virus underwent a sudden mutation upon exposure to a laser beam and resulted in Deoxys. The crystalline organ on it’s chest appears to be its brain. While it is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon, Deoxys has three other Formes, each focused on a different stat.

Deoxys is a psychic type, so it is weak to Dark, Ghost and Bug type moves! All formes of Deoxys have almost identical counters, with very minute variants here and there. Let’s go through a few below:
This pure dark mythical pokèmon serves as one of the most effective counters to deoxys, it has access to Snarl and Shadow Ball, it can build up energy quickly and deal damage quicker.
Having recently been catchable from a special research line, both forms of Hoopa, (Unbound and Confined) are accessible, having access to Astonish and Shadow Ball, they serve as highly effective counters.
This grass/dark type pokèmon was recently given to trainers in a free research line, it has access to Bite and Dark Pulse, making it a great counter to deoxys.
The shadow variants of Tyranitar with Bite and Crunch, Weavile with Snarl and Foul Play and Mewtwo with Psycho Cut and Shadow Ball (Legacy), all serve as amazing counters to Deoxys.
Mega Gengar with Lick (Legacy) and Shadow Ball, Mega Houndoom with Snarl and Foul Play, Mega Gyarados with Bite and Crunch, are the best Mega Pokèmon to use against deoxys.
If you do not have any of the above listed counters, don’t worry! There are plenty of budget counters you can use against Deoxys!
- Genesect with Fury Cutter and X-Scissor.
- Escavalier with Bug Bite and Mega Horn.
- Houndoom with Snarl and Foul Play.
- Gengar with Shadow Claw and Shadow Ball.
- Tyranitar with Bite and Crunch.
